Directed by Melina Matsoukas ("Hard," "S&M," "Rude Boy," "Rockstar 101"), the clip features Rihanna and British model/boxer Dudley O'Shaughnessy in a drug-fueled love affair full of lusty moments and heated fights. In the end, Rihanna walks away from it all, unable to deal with the pain of that lifestyle. The buzzy video certainly had fans talking. "This video reminds me of Sid Vicious and Nancy [Spungen], maybe not as bad as how Sid and Nancy were with each other but pretty intense," Cristian noted in a comment.

"This video is beyond anything I've ever experienced," Kirsten said. "It stuns me from beginning to end, lighting this fire inside of me I forgot was there. The passion oozes out of the screen while this video is playing. Brilliant, just brilliant." "Yes I Totally Agree Rihanna is fast becoming the new Madonna," Kyle added. "She pushes the envelop and gives us something to think about however uncomfortable it may be. Hands down, this is one of the best videos I've seen in a while. I guess I need to come out of my closet and show her some love openly."

While many fans commended Rihanna for her cinematic clip, it was hard for some not to note the domestic violence and drug use in the clip. "This video sends out the wrong message," Deshea wrote. "It's very graphic, nothing that they're doing is love, it's lust!"

In the opinion of some commenters like Kevin, the video should stand without any judgment. "The video is real and I think ppl need to stop judging her and let her do her thing," he said. "Music is supposed to provoke and invoke and that's just what she's doing. Stop hating on the things you don't understand. Ppl are only out to judge. I ain't a fan of hers but I don't hate on her either because she's a talent and she should be appreciated for the work that she does."

Nicki Minaj’s animated outfits and “personalities” are certainly entertaining, but in the current issue of Cosmopolitan magazine she peels back the act and let's us see the real woman.

On the cover, the rapper is outfitted in an edgy, leather corset-style dress with a midnight black bob wig to match and a feathered cuff. It’s a look that gives her character without making her look like a cartoon. Even her usually popping pink lip is swapped out for a softer hue. Inside the magazine Nicki models gold jewelry, a snakeskin top, a woven and silk strapless dress and pink nails and heels.

The feature article also gives a rare look at the star and “how she beat the odds and learned to rule her world.” Nicki opens up about some heavy topics, including growing up with an abusive father and the suicidal thoughts she had when it seemed like her career wouldn’t take off. Thankfully now the rapper sees a bright future for herself. In five years she says, “I will be married and a couple of years after that will have a bun in the oven.” In 10 years she sees herself with “hundreds of millions of dollars. I will have put out five albums and will have an Oscar and Grammys.”

Siege Magazine was on location to cover Yashica Davis' "Shic Clothing" Fashion show and website Launch Party. It was Lights Camera Fashion! Saturday September 24th as many came out to support Her SHIC 2011 Fall/Winter collection. The energy was high,and the runway was full of fresh faces and fierce fashion. The event was hosted by the designer's long time friend and supporter Mario Bennett who brought his style and charisma to the podium. There was also a beautiful reading by Poet and Author Stacy Davis Stanton (who is also the designer's sister). To keep the crowd moving, Hip Hop group KidSyc @ Brandywine opened the show, giving us hot beats and lyrical creativity. The runway included diverse styles full of furs,leather and body conscious dresses, that are definitely not for the shy. However the line is perfect for the woman who wants to make heads turns as she enters a room. Yashica states, "I am so proud of this collection, A lot of dedication and hard work went into each design, And I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do." This collection is sure to stand the test of time. We look forward to seeing more of her creations.

Chris Brown - Banned from Europe......

It seems poor Chris Brown can’t win for losing. The embattled pop star was recently forced to cancel his European tour that was set to kick off in Glasgow on June 9th. Some say it’s because his ex, Rihanna is currently touring there now, while others assume it’s because of his criminal history.

Whatever the case, Brown posted confirmed the rumors via his Twitter page and then deleted the statement a few minutes later

I can’t remember the last time I heard a Chris Brown song on the radio. I guess he’s banned from that too. I’ve said it many times, and hopefully someone in his camp will advise him. But seriously. If it don’t fit don’t force it.

I think he should fall back for a while; lay low and do some self reflection. It’s unfortunate that it’s come to this but Chris has made a ton of bad decisions that can only be forgiven with time. Maybe he’ll recover fully one day, but he can’t force people to forgive him.

In the feature titled "Character Study," written by Siobhan O'Connor and photographed by Jill Greenberg, rap's latest "it" girl shares some interesting insight to her new found fame, female MCs before her and her weird voices. “People don’t get when you’re off, or you’re having a bad day,” she says, obliquely referring to the photograph that bounced around the blogs of her hand- in-hand with Diddy, looking especially miserable. The speculation was inevitable: Had she been crying? Was she just tired? Are they doing it?

“When I grew up I saw females doing certain things, and I thought I had to do that exactly,” she says. “The female rappers of my day spoke about sex a lot . . . and I thought that to have the success they got, I would have to represent the same thing. When in fact I didn’t have to represent the same thing.”

“First and foremost I would like to thank my legal counsel Dwight Thomas and Michael Holmes for their excellent representation, as well as my label Asylum and Warner Brothers Records for sticking with me through my situation and helping me through my time behind bars. Most importantly, I want to thank all of my fans for their support while I have been away. Your letters and your words of encouragement helped me make it through. None of my success would be possible without you.

I have made some mistakes in my life that have hurt a lot of people who care about me. I have worked very hard to get past them, but those mistakes have brought me to where I am today, and they will not be repeated. These past six months have been a difficult time but fortunately I have learned a great deal from my experience. I was able to do a great deal of soul searching; I am coming out with a new attitude towards life.

Unfortunately, my incarceration also came at a pivotal point in my career, just as my first major label album was dropping. I was forced to miss what should have been one of the proudest moments of my life. This is something that I will make sure never happens again. My time in jail was trying, but I grew from it and am now a stronger and better person. I want to continue on a positive track and truly focus on being a role model to my fans and my community. I am looking towards the future with a newfound respect and appreciation for the law and a strong dedication to my music and my career.

With that in mind, I have already begun to make positive strides towards the future. I have launched a new label, 1017 Brick Squad Records in affiliation with Asylum/Warner Bros Records, and I am working with a new team.

I am looking forward to getting back to business and to start making hits. I am extremely excited about my new album, The Appeal, which will be dropping at the end of the summer. Over the course of 2010, 1017 Brick Squad records will also be releasing albums from my artist Wacka Flocka Flame as well as my group Brick Squad, which features Wacka, OJ Da Juiceman and myself. In July, I will be heading out on a nationwide tour, hitting venues across the country and continuing the movement.”

Singer, actress and civil-rights icon Lena Horne died on Sunday night in New York at the age of 92 of undisclosed causes. The jazz icon, whose signature song was "Stormy Weather," famously fought racist attitudes in Hollywood in her efforts to become the first black leading lady on the big screen. She died at New York-Presbyterian/ Weill Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan, according to The New York Times.

She became the top-earning black performer in Hollywood by 1945, playing lucrative nightclub gigs and gaining popularity among both white and black G.I.'s during World War II, who often kept pictures of her in their footlockers. While doing U.S.O. tours, she openly criticized the treatment of black troops, which earned her a rebuke from the organization. She secretly married white arranger/conductor Lennie Hayton in 1947, and she claimed that the combination of her U.S.O. comments and friendships with such left-leaning civil-rights figures as singer Paul Robeson got her blacklisted in Hollywood, preventing her from working for nearly a decade after her MGM contract lapsed in 1950.

In addition to two Grammy awards, she won a special Tony Award for her 1981 one-woman Broadway show, "Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music," and continued to release albums into the 1990s and tour extensively in Europe and North America.

It’s hard to take his father, Joe Bryant, seriously during an interview when there’s a Utah Jazz fan flashing one of Kobe’s new white hot photos behind his head. Less than a week after a video clip surfaced online showing her call rapper Nicki Minaj "garbage" and "a gimmick," former video-vixen-turned-rapper Gloria Velez has jumped into the booth and unleashed a freestyle dissing the Young Money First Lady.

Although we are unaware of any response from Nicki to Gloria's previous comments, the model/rapper decided that she wasn't done. In a freestyle leaked on Tuesday (May 4), Velez spits venom about the femcee for more than two minutes over Young Money's "Roger That" instrumental.

"I'm in a six-speed drop and I'm sick with the clutch / I'm bout to go in on this bitch like a d*** in her guts / Come on Nicki? Is you licking or what? / How many silicone shots you gonna stick in your butt?" Velez opens the freestyle with.

She goes on to throw several jabs at Minaj, poking fun at her alleged plastic surgery enhancements, comparing her flow to a rapper with Tourette's syndrome, and even accuses her of providing sexual favors to land a record deal.

"It's Glo, Murda Mami, strapped up, emergency / I wasn't gonna do it, but bitch you keep urging me / You better run and use extreme urgency / brain f***ed up, too much plastic surgery," Velez spits.

"No matter how many times you bat your eye lashes / It ain't gonna take away from the fact that you trash-ess," she later raps, before adding: "Remember you came out a Lil Kim clone? / then you started sounding like your got Tourette's syndrome."

Last week, in an interview with Major Moves DVD, Velez is asked about her opinion on women in the rap game. Nicki Minaj's name was brought up and she offered her opinion, which wasn't very nice.

"She's a good gimmick, like she has the right team behind her. That's it, because if anybody else put her out or she was by herself, it would not pop off at all ... no matter how much plastic surgery or no matter how much injections in the butt. It's not gonna happen. It's a gimmick," the model said.

T.I. To Perform 2010 Hip Hop Weekend....

T.I. will give one of his first major performances this May when the rapper and artists on his Grand Hustle record label hit Miami during Memorial Day weekend.
Atlanta promoter Jacob York and Miami’s 99 Jamz are promoting “The Return of the King” Memorial Day Weekend Extravaganza. T.I. and crew are lasted to the stage on Sunday, May 30th at Klutch Nightclub, formerly known as Opium/Prive.
The performances marks T.I.’s first major performance since he was released from a halfway house in March, after serving a year in prison for attempting to purchase machine guns and silencers in October of 2007.
Earlier this week, T.I. debuted the video for his single “I’m Back,” the first official off of his “comeback” album King Uncaged, which is due in stores August 17th.

Getting too close to lil wayne............

This week, Riker Island corrections officer Amelia Negron got fired for allegedly abusing her sick days and taking too much time off….but Negron thinks she really got fired because she went to say hi to a coworker who was in the same room where Lil Wayne was being held.

“The door to the area was unlocked, and so I went in to say hello, and that officer said, ‘Hey, you can’t be here. We’ve got a celeb here.’ I said, ‘Okay, no problem,’ turned around and left,” Negron said.

She said that, after the short exchange, her superiors claimed she was trying to cozy up to Weezy.

“We did nothing wrong, but we were threatened with criminal charges, transfers, suspensions,” (NYDN)

Now Negron plans to sue the Corrections Dept for harassment and discrimination. And as for explain why she couldn’t possibly have been looking to discuss the finer points of “how to lick thewrapper,” she presented an air-tight alibi….read after the jump.

“I don’t even like rap,” said Negron, 33.

“I like rock and alternative music and didn’t know much about him when they said I tried to see him. None of it’s true.” (NYDN)
